Knowledge Zenith EDX Headphone Review: Budget Star!
I often get a review of a large number of headphones, including the budget segment. But the reality is that at the moment, in the budget niche, many manufacturers are trying to invest more in the appearance, bypassing the sound. But as many people know, the well-known Chinese brand Knowledge Zenith can and knows how to delight listeners with excellent sound quality at the most affordable price. Whether their new model with the Knowledge Zenith EDX encoding inherited all the company's developments, but with a fairly low price tag, we have to figure it out.
Knowledge Zenith EDX is a model with one dynamic emitter, which, in fact, is not quite typical for the company. The packaging is made in the classic KZ tradition - white, small, austerely simple. Nothing extra. Opening the package, you will find the headphones themselves, a set of silicone ear pads of different sizes and a detachable cable. Taking the headphones themselves, it is very difficult to believe that you have a model with a price ta Edna Keisire g of $ 20 in front of you, since the build quality and tactile sensations sacredly make you believe that the cost of the device should be at least twice as high.
The device's cable is replaceable, made of highly purified copper, covered with a silicone braid. You will also find a microphone on the cord itself, which will allow the owner to switch tracks and answer phone calls. Well, cool if you take into account the cost of the headphones. The cable itself, a classic of the brand - is thin, soft, comfortable. Previously, almost all models were equipped with such a wire, and this model was no exception. The connection to the headphones was left in the form of a 2-pin 0.78 mm.
The ergonomics of the headphones themselves are quite decent - they sit comfortably, do not fall out or stick out from the ear, they are very light. Noise isolation by 3 out of 5, since the sound guide of the headphones is wide and short enough to fit it as deep as possible into the ear canal.
The device is intended as an entry-level solution for getting to know quality sound. Such headphones will perfectly make friends with a phone, a laptop, a player. The sound of the headphones is a clear V-scale. The edges of the ranges have clear accents that dominate. At the same time, even at high volume, the device does not wheeze or distort the sound, which is very surprising for headphones in this price niche.
Low frequencies. Accentuated, have good volume and weight. The depth here, of course, is much less than average, sometimes you want the music to be more expressive, and the bass went lower. The strong side is the texture. I didn't think such a simple dynamic driver could be delineated to play lower case. It is simply surprising, because many competitors in the workshop do not even have a hint of this characteristic. Instruments can play in several levels, with a good tangible relief. Yes, it will be very flat and primitive, but still the relief. The bass does not roll or mumble, it is quite controlled. Considering that the bass plays a very important role in the perception of the naturalness of the musical canvas, then I can deservedly praise the manufacturer.
Medium frequencies. As mentioned above, the delivery is V-shaped, therefore, the mid-range of these headphones will be squeezed. The vocals and instruments are slightly below average, the sound is a little rounded and blurry. As a person who listens mainly to instrumental and vocal music, it was a little uncomfortable for me to listen to the details that I want to hear, because you know that they are present in this composition, but they lie not on the surface itself, but in the depths. Due to the pressed midrange, the scene width also seems to be slightly narrower than the average. I think that for lovers of modern electronic and synthetic music, hip-hop and dance styles - these headphones will appeal to your taste. For fans of instrumental-vocal, jazz and classical music, it is better to look towards the same Knowledge Zenith ZSN Pro X.
High frequencies. Natural, soft, enveloping. The upper case has a fairly good elaboration and detail. Percussion instruments and upper vocals are perfectly heard in the compositions. The presentation is quite lively and natural, the timbres are authentic. I can put a solid 4. For this price segment, HF development is at a decent level. I want to note that more expensive models, especially from the mass market segment
